What size shed should I build?

What size shed you should build depends on a couple of things.
1) What does the law allow? Many places have zoning or deed restrictions which limit the size of shed you can build. Check with your local government to find out if you have any restrictions for the size, style, and location of shed you can build.
2) How much space do you have? If you have lots of room then you have more options. But if your space is limited then you will have to build within those constraints. Something else to think about is setbacks. If you have to build your shed a certain distance from the property line or other buildings, that will reduce the size of shed you can build.
3) What do you have to store? If you just have a few garden tools or Christmas decorations you can do with a small shed. If you have lots of treasure (junk?) then I would recommend building a larger shed with some extra room for the future as you will likely get more stuff.
4) What is your budget? Materials have gone through the roof so your budget might limit what you can build. Get a materials list and cost estimate worksheet and figure the cost of the shed you want to build and see if it's within your budget. I recommend building a shed larger than you need because it will get full quickly.
