Snow load

I’m building your 16 x 32 tall barn using 16” on center studs and trusses. Will this configuration support a continuous snow load of 12” to 14”?

I’m building this as a shop and it will be heated and cooled. Will I need some kind of roof or upper wall venting? I live in a low humidity area.

You mention installing a brace on every 3rd truss at the wall top cap. Would installing a brace on every truss 2 to 3 feet above the wall top cap work?

Thanks

In order to make sure your trusses stronger you can make them of 2x6's instead of 2x4's. The dimensions are the same. Just make sure to use plenty of nails on the truss joints. You might even make the osb webbing a little longer than 12 in, say 16 or 18 in to hold more nails. Make the trusses 16in on center and use a 2x4 cross piece (chord) between the walls at the (top plate) every other stud. Don't put it above the top cap as you suggested. Put them at the top cap to brace against the trusses spreading due to the snow load. For maximum strength put a chord at each truss base. With these specifications the roof should be more than strong enough to handle that snow load.

As far as roof venting I would suggest a turbine vent (or 2) or a ridge cap vent. But that might not be a good idea if you are going to heat or cool it.
