FAQ: How Many Skids Should I Use?

Question:

How Many Skids Should I Use?

Answer:

Depending on how you are going to use your shed, 2) 4×4 pressure treated skids are sufficient for light duty use for up to a 12 wide shed. Over that I would use a minimum of 3 skids. But they are relatively cheap so you could easily use 3 or 4 or more skids on all size sheds.

The only downside is more effort and a small cost. Just make sure that they are well blocked against settling.

I tend to use 2 skids when possible because it lets me get under and re-level in the future if the shed settles. The advantage of using more skids is that it is less likely to settle in the future if you do a good job of blocking the first time.
